FOR JUNIOR PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

Home

If you’re the coach of a developing player, or the parent of a developing player, or you are a developing player, you likely know that you need matchplay data to improve and reach your tennis goals. You may even have data already, but is it meaningful, and who is analyzing it? That’s 135’s job on your team.

135 only works with players through their coach, making everyone’s job easier and more productive.

FRAMEWORK

Ever been confused by how 0-4, 5-8, 9+ rally length data applies to you or your player? The 135 Framework provides an understanding of rally patterns and shot sequences, rather than “big data” analytics.

ANALYSIS

You’re a coach who wants data analysis, not just outputs that require extra work……or a parent/player who’s not sure what to look for. There’s a big difference between analytics and analysis

TECHNOLOGY

Our tech is state-of-the-art, but it’s designed to support coaches and players by measuring and benchmarking matchplay over time, and improving the tennis IQ of your players.

135 Testimonials

Coaches and academies

135 is here to make your job easier, not harder. Here’s how:

  • You won’t have to sift through the data to find the results. That’s our job.
  • You won’t have to sit at a desk and prepare match play reports for your players. Our systems do that.
  • You won’t need to sit at a computer after a 10 hour day on court to find information for the next day’s lessons. We’ll send you what you need.
  • You are our first point of contact for your players.
  • Revenue sharing to make the process even more worthwhile.

Profile, Benchmark, Measure

There’s more to tennis analytics than errors and winners. Yes, as a coach, player or parent, we want to know that your forehand leaks unforced errors, but the key to analysis is answering “WHY”. Is it technical, tactical or maybe something else?

SCORE

Tennis is a sport of risk/reward, and score is the biggest contributing factor to that decision making.

strategy

135 metrics reveal the strategies and tactics that work for players and those that need practice. Tennis is individual.

behavior

Sometimes it’s a huge benefit for junior players to see the effect of their behavior – both positive and negative – on the outcome of the following point, or points.

PROCESS / GOAL

135 is not a one-off report. Our engagement with coaches and players is ongoing, because what we can measure, we can improve over time.

Message to Parents from 135's Director, Nicholas Scott

You’re a parent of a child who is showing potential as a tennis player. Perhaps most importantly, they love it, and want to make it as a college player, or even a pro. The one thing you don’t want to tell them is “you can’t”.

I’ve been that parent. I’ve been the coach of many players just like your child. Tennis has become exceedingly good (in most cases) at teaching junior players how to hit balls, but playing tennis is so much more than hitting balls. Good coaches know this.

The problem is, and always has been, how to  effectively measure your child’s play as they develop. Not their forehand swing or their service motion, but what they do when they play. Moreover, the effective measure of how they play must be reportable, easy to understand, and be an ongoing process. Numbers on a screen aren’t good enough for the vast majority, nor is cut-up footage.

That’s where 135 provides an edge to your child through their coach. By using 135 they, and you, will know their tactical strengths and weaknesses at regular intervals. It’s why Tennis Canada use 135 for junior player development.

IMPROVING TENNIS IQ

Watching yourself play is an incredibly powerful tool, but only if what you’re watching can hold your attention. In today’s world, junior players are more likely to watch YouTube highlights than a full match, or perhaps just cut-up, filtered footage. It’s not meaningful enough to improve the way a player actually thinks about and plays tennis.

As part of our implementation process, we provide players with the tools and training to watch themselves play and record the analytics of their own match. It’s not something we suggest they do any more than once every three months, but the value the process creates and the improvement in a junior player’s tennis IQ, is almost immediate.

To see the results and filter video afterwards makes the process even more rewarding. It’s a process we highly recommend for those in the 12s, but also something from which all players can derive great benefit.
